Tahawwur Rana, a Pakistani-born Canadian, wanted by Indian authorities for his alleged role in 26/11 Mumbai terror attack, will remain in the United States custody as a Los Angeles court weighs whether he will be extradited to India.
The federal judge on Thursday ordered the defense attorneys and prosecutors to file additional documents by July 15. Rana will remain in federal custody.
Indian authorities allege that Rana conspired with his childhood friend David Coleman Headley to assist the Pakistani terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba in the orchestration of the 2008 terror attacks in Mumbai that killed 166 people.
In 2011, Rana was convicted by a US court of conspiracy to provide material support to terrorism in Denmark.
