They say that you can't predict the result in cricket till the last ball is bowled but it didn't seem to be the case in the T20 World Cup 2021. The tournament in the UAE mostly saw the team winning the toss ending up victorious.

While India's bowling coach Bharat Arun called it an undue advantage after The Men in Blue lost both of their opening games after losing the toss, Australian skipper Aaron Finch said that him winning 6 out of the 7 tosses in the tournament was a big factor in his side ending up as champions.

Let's compare the 3 venues where the World T20 games were played. 5 out of 9 matches were won by teams winning the toss in Sharjah. While the win percentage after winning the toss in Abu Dhabi was almost 64, it jumped to over 84 in Dubai, the venue which hosted the most number of games including the final.

Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar also highlighted how the toss became a decisive factor in the World T20 and said that ICC should make sure that there is a level playing field for both teams.

Clearly, toss was the boss in the 2021 World T20 and the ones who had the coin come down in their favour had an upper hand straight away.
