Pakistan skipper Babar Azam once again led from the front as the team registered its 3rd consecutive win in the T20 World Cup after beating Afghanistan by 5 wickets on Friday in Dubai.
Sent into bowl first, Pakistan restricted the opposition to mere 147 runs. While Afghanistan's batting line-up fell apart quickly, it was because of late efforts of Mohammad Nabi and Gulbadin Naib that Afghanistan managed a fighting total. Nabi and Naib scored an unbeaten 35 off 32 and 35 off 25 respectively.
With a 51 off 47, Babar Azam rose to the occasion and along with Fakhar Zaman, he put up a 63-run crucial partnership. Azam also broke Virat Kohli's T20 record. He is now the fastest skipper to attain 1000 T20I runs in just 26 matches. Towards the end, Asif Ali once again showed off his six-hitting skills as he sealed the deal for Pakistan with a whirlwind 25* off 7.
