T20 World Cup 2021: Devon Conway ruled out of final with a freak hand injury

Kiwi cricketer Devon Conway who contributed immensely to New Zealand's semi-final win against England has been ruled out of the T20 World Cup final with an injury in his right hand, New Zealand Cricket was confirmed on Thursday.

Conway's 46 off 38 saved a drowning New Zealand side who were on the verge of exiting the World Cup run. After Liam Livingstone cleaned up the 30-year-old cricketer, Conway in frustration punched his bat with his hand and broke a bone. The board said that Conway sustained the injury and the scans confirmed a fracture.

Coach Gary stead revealed that the cricketer was absolutely gutted to be ruled out like this. Conway will also miss out on the upcoming T20 series against India which is slated to begin on November 17th.
