‘Super Mario 64’ copy sells for $1.56 million, becomes most expensive video game ever

A sealed copy of Super Mario 64 for the Nintendo 64 sold for a whopping $1.56 million at Heritage Auctions, making it the most expensive video game of all time.

In doing so, it took the record from a copy of The Legend of Zelda for the NES had sold for $870,000 at the same website a few days ago.

Released in 1996, Super Mario 64 was the first 3D Mario platformer, and the best-selling game on the Nintendo 64.
