As Virat Kohli will be stepping down as the T20 captain after the World T20, former India skipper Sunil Gavaskar wants KL Rahul to be groomed as the future India captain.
During a chat with Sports Tak, Gavaskar said that it's important to look ahead and if India is looking to groom a new captain, then KL Rahul can be looked at. Rahul has shown very impressive leadership qualities in the IPL and hasn’t let the burden of captaincy affect his batting. So, he can be made the vice-captain, added Gavaskar.
Rohit Sharma is currently the white-ball vice captain and is most likely to take up the leadership role when India take on New Zealand in a home series in November that will feature 3 T20I and 2 Tests.
