A hormone, called Lipocalin-2, which has previously shown to increase the feeling of being full in mice, has showed similar results in humans and non-human primates. The new study, published in the journal Life, suggests that this hormone could be used to treat people with obesity.

The double study was conducted on humans and other primates. LCN2 signals satiety, which was found to restrict food intake. Scientists analyzed four different studies and concluded that LCN2 crosses the blood-brain barrier and suppresses food intake, thus it can curb appetite with minimal toxicity and help treat obesity.
