Streets of Colombia are filled with names of the dead

Installation artist Doris Salcedo is filling the streets of Colombia with the names of the dead. In a homage to deceased Human Rights activists of Colombia, Doris along with volunteers are writing their names on Bolivar Plaza with shards of glass. Community leaders were harassed, threatened and slain in alarming numbers in the aftermath of Colombia's peace agreement signed in late 2016. Doris uses glass as her medium because it symbolises the fragility of life - which once broken can never be mended.
