Steep hike in re-registering fee of 15-year-old vehicles

In a big push towards phasing out old technology vehicles the Govt has proposed steep hike in re-registering fee of 15-year-old vehicles.
The fee for renewal and grant of fitness certificate of three-wheeler or four wheelers  has been set at Rs 3,500 and is set at Rs 1,000 for two-wheeler vehicles. 

For the larger lot Rs 10,000 will be charged for renewal and grant of fitness certificate for medium goods or passenger motor vehicles and Rs 12,500 will be charged for heavy goods or large passenger motor vehicles.
