States, UTs must implement 'one nation one ration card' scheme till July 31: SC

The Supreme Court on Tuesday directed all the states and union territories to implement 'one nation, one ration card scheme’ (ONORC ) for migrants till July 31.

The court asked the Centre to provide dry ration for free distribution among migrant workers till the COVID-19 situation continues.

The apex court has asked the states to continue community kitchens for migrant workers.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court also ordered the Centre and states to complete registration of all migrant workers, including those in unorganised sectors positively by July 31.

A slew of directions to ensure food security, cash transfers and other welfare measures for migrant workers were also given.
