Despite Qatar's efforts to prevent a censure of its human rights records during the ongoing FIFA World Cup, visiting dignitaries are not backing down.

After Germany's players covered their mouths for their team photo, Belgium's foreign minister wore a 'One Love' armband when she met FIFA president Gianni Infantino.

The One Love armband is seen as a symbol for inclusion and diversity, but FIFA has banned players from wearing it at the tournament in Qatar.

Belgian minister Hadja Labib was seen wearing the band on 23 November 2022 at her country's match with Canada. Earlier, German Interior Minister Nancy Faeser also sported the symbol while sitting next to the FIFA chief at Germany's match.

The German side's coach has criticised FIFA for "muzzling" the team.
