A day after the Supreme Court closed the petition filed by women wrestlers against former WFI president Brijbhushan Sharan Singh, sports minister Anurag Thakur requested the protesting wrestlers to wait till the investigation by Delhi Police is completed.

Speaking to the press, Thakur said, ‘Demand was for free and fair elections, and a committee formed by IOA is working towards it, FIR has been registered by Delhi police, SC also gave its verdict. Delhi Police is conducting a fair investigation.’

Putting up a brave face after the apex court order on Thursday, the protesting wrestlers had said it was not a setback for them and they will continue their agitation till Brijbhushan, a BJP MP, was arrested.

The sports minister also added, ‘I request the players that their demands are being fulfilled and they should allow the investigation to be completed.’
