World Athletics President Sebastian Coe affirmed the organization's unwavering stance, declaring that the ban on Russian and Belarusian athletes will not be lifted despite the International Olympic Committee's (IOC) recent decision regarding their participation in the Paris 2024 Olympics. The IOC's announcement outlined that athletes from these nations could compete in Paris, provided they had not supported the conflict in Ukraine.

The World Athletics Council, concluding a two-day meeting in Monaco, solidified its position on maintaining the ban, emphasizing that the stance remains unchanged. Coe clarified that while there may be neutral athletes from Russia and Belarus participating in Paris, they won't be involved in athletics.
