Wimbledon 2023 runner-up Novak Djokovic has been fined US$8000 by the All England Lawn Tennis Club for 'racket abuse' during his clash against Spain's Carlos Alcaraz.

In the deciding set of the Final on July 16, Alcaraz was leading 2-1, frustrating the 36-year-old Serb who smashed his tennis racket against the net post in anger while walking towards his bench.

The match umpire Fergus Murphy immediately issued a code violation against Djokovic.

The 7-time Wimbledon eventually lost to 20-year-old Alcaraz and will also have to pay a price for his behaviour during the match's crucial moment.
