22-time Grand Slam Champion Rafael Nadal battled through an abdominal injury to reach his 8th semi-final at Wimbledon.

Nadal, who took a medical timeout after the second set, was contemplating retirement due to restricted movement at one point in the match. The Spaniard though once again showed his resolve as he overcame physical pain to beat America's Taylor Fritz in an epic five-setter on Centre Court.

The No. 2 seed won 3-6, 7-5, 3-6, 7-5, 7-6 (10/4) in a match that lasted 4 hours and 21 minutes.

Nadal has now won 19 straight matches at the Tennis majors and the dream of a calendar Grand Slam is still very much alive.

The 36-year-old will face Australia’s Nick Kyrgios, who defeated Cristian Garin in the other quarter-final on Wednesday.
