With less than a week for the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) elections, the window to withdraw nominations from the electoral list closed on August 5.

The Returning Officer for the polls, former J&K High Court Judge Mahesh Mittal Kumar, will officially announce the final list of candidates in the fray on August 7.

Vying for the top post are Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, ex-WFI chief's close aide Sanjay Kumar Singh and CWG 2010 gold medallist Anita Sheoran.

Sanjay Singh currently serves as the vice-president of the UP wrestling association while Sheoran is the only woman in the fray for the August 12 polls.

The fight for the president's seat became two-way after other candidates withdrew their names.

A source close to the Brij Bhushan camp said on condition of anonymity that 16 candidates from the group will contest all 15 posts, and expressed confidence that it will "emerge victorious".
