Tennis world superstar Novak Djokovic is back in the US Open final for a record-tying 10th time after a 6-3, 6-2, 7-6(4) victory over unseeded American Ben Shelton.
Djokovic who mimicked Shelton's "Hang up the phone!" celebration gesture after winning will seek a fourth trophy at Flushing Meadows and a 24th Grand Slam title overall.
The Serbian would be the oldest man to win the event in the Open era, which began in 1968 if he beat 3rd-seeded Daniil Medvedev who eliminated Carlos Alcaraz in the semi-finals 7-6 (3), 6-1, 3-6, 6-3.
Medvedev won his lone major title at Flushing Meadows in 2021 by defeating Djokovic in that year's final.
And if Djokovic ends up leaving with the hardware, he would break a tie with Serena Williams for the most major singles championships in the Open era.
Regardless of Sunday's opponent or outcome, No.2 seed Djokovic will replace No.1 Alcaraz at the top of the ATP rankings on Monday.
