Indian shuttler Satwiksairaj Rankireddy has officially set a new Guinness World Record for the fastest hit by a male player in badminton.

The record-breaking smash recorded an astounding speed of 565 km/h, surpassing the previous record of 493 km/h set by Malaysian player Tan Boon Heong in May 2013.

This achievement also exceeds the top speed of 372.6 km/h achieved by a Formula 1 car.

The Guinness World Record attempt took place on April 14, 2023, in a controlled environment at the Yonex factory gymnasium in Soka, Japan.

Yonex, the renowned Japanese sports equipment manufacturing company, expressed its pride in announcing the new record set by Satwiksairaj Rankireddy. The previous record had stood for over a decade, making this accomplishment even more remarkable.
