Double Olympic medallist PV Sindhu has pulled out from the season-ending BWF World Tour Finals due to the stress fracture on her left ankle, PV Ramana, Sindhu's father confirmed. The Hyderabad-based shuttler who won the inaugural BWF World Tour Final in 2018 had sustained the injury during her successful Commonwealth Games campaign and has not recovered fully from it yet.

'Her doctor has advised her to take some more time so that she recovers completely ahead of the new season, her father said. He further informed that Sindhu had already started her training a couple of weeks back and the 27-year-old is expected to be fully fit by January.

Shuttler HS Prannoy, who is ranked third in the world, will be the lone Indian competing at the event. The BWF World Tour Finals is scheduled to be held in Guangzhou, China from December 14.
