Olympian Sushil Kumar granted interim bail in Sagar Dhankad murder case

2-time Olympic medallist Sushil Kumar who was arrested in the Chattrasal Stadium murder case last year was granted interim bail for 9 days by a district court in Rohini, Delhi for the treatment of his ailing wife. His wife, Savi Kumar is suffering from acute lower back pain and now needs an urgent operation.

While granting bail to Kumar till November 12, 2022, the court said that two security personnel would keep a strict vigil on him which would cost the state Rs. 10,000 per day. The cost would be borne by the accused, the court directed further.  

The 39-year-old who was arrested last year, is one of the accused in the murder of the former junior national wrestling champion Sagar Dhankad.

Dhankad died during a brawl in the Chhatrasal Stadium on 4 May 2021.
