Reigning Formula 1 champion Max Verstappen extended his championship lead as Red Bull finished 1-2 in the Azerbaijan Grand Prix on Sunday.

It was a disastrous day for Ferrari as their racer, Charles Leclerc who started from the pole position was forced to retire after his car started spewing smoke during the 20th lap. This was his 2nd retirement in the last 3 races.

His teammate, Carlos Sainz also had to retire early due to hydraullic issues, handing Red bull an easy win.

Sergio Perez who had the lead after Leclerc pulled into the pits was soon left behind by Verstappen who registered his fifth win of the season.

While Red Bull's Verstappen and Perez finished 1st and 2nd, Mercedes' George Russell and Lewis Hamilton were third and fourth.
