The All England Club announced on Wednesday that Tennis players from Russia and Belarus will not be allowed in this year's Wimbledon due to their countries' involvement in Ukraine War.

Among the prominent players affected by the ban are reigning US Open champion Daniil Medvedev, who recently reached Number 1 in the ATP rankings.

"In the circumstances of unjustified and unprecedented military aggression, it would be unacceptable for the Russian regime to derive any benefits from the involvement of Russian or Belarusian players with The Championships," All England Club said in a statement.

The statement further added that if circumstances change materially between now and June, then Wimbledon will consider and respond accordingly.

Earlier, the Lawn Tennis Association has also banned Russian and Belarusian players from competing in British grass-court tourneys.

Wimbledon is scheduled to take place from June 27 to July 10.
