India gets Russia's backing for 2036 Olympics bid

Despite facing different sanctions from various countries, Russia offered to help India in hosting the 2036 Olympics if their bid will receive the backing from International Olympic Committee. 

During his India visit, Russia's sports minister Oleg Matytsin said that specialists from his country will be happy to help in organising Olympics in India.

India has expressed its interest to host the Olympic Games in Ahmedabad multiple times but no concrete moves have been made by them so far.

Notably, two months ago, Gujarat's Advocate General Kamal Trivedi informed Gujarat High Court that the state government is preparing for the 2036 Olympics and the Olympic Committee will make a visit in 2025. 

Earlier, Russia had shown interest in hosting the 2036 Olympics. Istanbul, Doha, Jakarta and Cairo are the other cities that are in fray to host the world's greatest sports meet.

The hosts for the next three Olympic Summer Games are already decided, Paris in 2024, Los Angeles in 2028 and Brisbane in 2032.
