Former WFI Chief & BJP MP Brijbhushan Sharan Singh, who has been accused of sexual harassment, responded to the protests against him with a poem.
In a video statement that mirrored a recital, Singh indicated he won't go down without a fight.
"Friends, the day I reflect on my life, what I gained or lost, the day I feel I don't have the strength to fight, the day I feel helpless, I won't like to live a life like that. Instead of living such a life, I would wish that death embraces me," he said.
Country's top wrestlers resumed their agitation against the wrestling federation's chief on Sunday, three months after they ended their sit-in protest following the formation of an oversight committee to probe into the serious allegations against Singh.
The Sports Ministry has not yet made public the findings of six-member oversight panel that submitted its report on April 5.
For the past five days, top wrestlers, including Vinesh Phogat, Bajrang Punia, and Sakshi Mallik, resumed their protest at Delhi's Jantar Mantar, demanding action against Bhushan, who is a Member of Parliament from the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Singh began by reciting a Hindi poem before going on to say that if he ever felt that his strength to fight had waned and that he was helpless, he would prefer "death" rather than a "helpless life".
The protest has gained momentum as the entire opposition, including the Left, Congress, and Aam Aadmi Party, and multiple Khap Panchayats had expressed support and demanded strict action against the WFI chief.
Previously, the wrestler had staged a sit-in protest at Jantar Mantar in January, accusing the WFI boss of sexual exploitation and intimidation.
