F2 Bahrain: India's Kush Maini takes pole position for season's opening race

Indian racer Kush Maini took his maiden pole position for the Formula 2 season's opening race in Bahrain on Thursday. 

Meanwhile, Maini's teammate Gabriel Bortoleto came a close second, 0.219 seconds behind. 

Last year, Maini had finished 4th in Bahrain Grand Prix, collecting 14 points overall from his debut race weekend. 

The 23-year-old is an Alpine Academy driver being mentored by two-time F1 World Champion Mika Hakkinen and his sights set on the big Formula 1 stage.
