At the inauguration of the 141st International Olympic Committee (IOC) session in Mumbai on October 14, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed India's desire to host the 2036 Summer Olympics.
A day after his declaration, the IOC has stated that the host city for the 2036 event will not be decided before 2026, that is three years away.
Apart from India, Poland, Mexico and Indonesia have also indicated interest in hosting the same tournament.
