In a spectacular show of team spirit, Belgian shot put and hammer throw champion Jolien Boumkwo ran a 100m hurdles race at the ongoing European Championships in Poland, saving her team from disqualification on Saturday.

After two of Belgium's hurdlers pulled out of the event due to injuries, 29-year-old Buomkwo stepped up and was all smiles as she completed the 100m race in 32.81 seconds without knocking down any of the hurdles.

If nobody from the Belgium contingent would have participated in the event, the country would have been disqualified.

Buomkwo's contribution earned her team the crucial two points to stay afloat and also garnered praise from her rivals and the audience.
