Badminton has once again started to bear the brunt of Covid-19 as the Badminton World Federation (BWF) cancelled the Hong Kong Open Super 500 and Macau Open Super 300 due to restrictions in the two countries.

Macau Open was due to start on November 1 while the Hong Kong Open was scheduled to be played from November 8 to 13.

With quarantine restrictions still required for all overseas visitors, there was no other viable option than to cancel the tournament, BWF said in a statement.

After the Japan Open, the world tour will directly move to Europe in October for tournaments in Denmark, France, and Germany.
