A year ago, Novak Djokovic had told a local broadcaster that he felt like "the villain of the world" in Melbourne where he was detained at a hotel with asylum-seekers before being deported.
However, the world number 5 returned to Australia with a fresh mindset as he neither feels like a villain in Australia nor holds any grudge against anyone ahead of the Australian Open 2023.
Ahead of his opening game against Carballés Baena, Djokovic said that had he any grudges, he wouldn't be in Australia.
'I was really looking forward to come back and play tennis because that's ultimately what I do best,' he added.
