Flamboyant Harmilan Bains won a silver medal with a time of 4 minutes 12.74 seconds in the women's 1500m race.
Harmilan joined her mother Madhuri Singh who won a silver medal in the 800m in the 2002 edition of the Asian Games.
In men's long jump, the Commonwealth Games silver medallist Murali Sreeshankar picked up a silver with a jump of 8.19m in Hangzhou. This is India's first medal in the Long Jump at Asiad since 1978. Jeswin Aldrin finished at 8th position in same event with a best jump of 7.76 m
