NADA Disciplinary Panel has handed a four-year ban to two-time Commonwealth Games champion Sanjita Chanu for failing a dope test last year.

The 29-year-old weightlifter had tested positive for an anabolic steroid -- Drostanolone Metabolite -- that features in the World Anti-doping Agency's (WADA) prohibited list.

Her dope sample was collected during the National Games in September last year.

Sanjita's ban commenced on November 12, 2022, from the date of her provisional suspension.

The weightlifter had won gold for India in the 2014 and 2018 Commonwealth Games.
