In their first victory of Gujarat Titans in two seasons, Lucknow Super Giants' pacer Yash Thakur had a massive role to play.
Hosts LSG ran out Gujarat in just 18.5 overs on Sunday, and Thakur impressively took five wickets as Gujarat could only score 130 runs.
Lucknow batted first and only scored 163 runs but Thakur revealed in the post-match press conference that they were aware the wicket would get slower and decided to stick to their plans even if they ended up conceding some runs.
Thakur also expressed gratitude for the LSG coaches, 'I would like to thank our coaches Morne (Morkel) sir, Justin (Langer) sir and (KL) Rahul bhaiyya for always believing in me and backing me in today's match as well.'
Thakur also won his first Player of the Match for his exploits with the ball, which saw him take his maiden 5-wicket haul in the IPL.
