Delhi Capitals kept their slim chances of securing a top four place alive with a 19-run victory over the Lucknow Super Giants in Match 64 of the Indian Premier League on Tuesday.
Speaking after the game, DC assistant coach Pravin Amre was all-praise for senior bolwer Ishant Sharma, who scalped 3 crucial wickets and was also awarded Player of the Match.
'Well, I think that's very important. Like today's game, he got a man of the match. I think that speaks something like power play, getting three wickets. And also that's all top order wicket. That's what, he's the guy who played a hundred Test matches and always loves to play. And he knows how to bowl on a Delhi wicket also. But I'm very happy for him,' Amre told reporters at the stadium.
While defending 208, Sharma scalped KL Rahul, Quinton de Kock and Deepak Hooda's wickets in pursuit of his team's victory.
Amre concluded, 'Like the whatever the opportunity he got and he has done well for us. And again, I was repeating that the Indian bowlers are doing (well). But where I think Ishant’s contribution was more this year. To see that our couple of matches. Like he has played a very important role for us.'
Sharma has played 9 games for Delhi and has taken 9 wickets including his 2024 best of 3/34 that came vs LSG on May 14.
