Former India captain Sourav Ganguly backed Virat Kohli to open alongside Rohit Sharma at the T20 World Cup, scheduled to begin in June this year.

“Both Rohit Sharma and Viral Kohli will definitely go to West Indies and USA. It's a call for selectors whom they will open with but if you ask me personally both Rohit and Virat should open for India in the T20 World Cup,” Ganguly said during Delhi Capitals media day on Monday.

"Virat Kohli has the potential to score a Hundred in 40 balls in T20 Cricket," Dada added.

The former RCB skipper has been in sublime form this season and is the highest run-scorer of IPL 2024. Virat has smashed 379 runs in 8 innings and also silenced his critics by notching up those runs at a strike rate of over 150.

That includes 2 half-centuries and an unbeaten 113. His average of over 63 is also very impressive.
