Punjab Kings had a horrendous season yet again in the Indian Premier League, but their retained bowler, Arshdeep Singh upskilled himself with every passing match this season.

The Punjab-based cricketer started poorly in IPL 2022 but emerged as a death bowling specialist by the end of Punjab Kings' campaign in the 15th edition.

Boasting an economy of 7.7, Arshdeep gradually became Captain Mayank Agarwal’s go-to man in the death overs. His ability to deliver pin-point yorkers at will, not leak runs under pressure, and, most importantly, to stay calm came in handy for Punjab Kings in the most dangerous situations.

In his 4-years of IPL experience, the 2018 U-19 World Cup-winning cricketer has collected 40 wickets in 37 matches.

His control over the game in the last overs caught the eye of the selectors who picked him for his first-ever international T20 assignment against South Africa. The 23-year-old left-arm bowler who made his IPL debut in 2019 will now play alongside Harshal Patel, Umran Malik, and Avesh Khan in the national jersey.
