After Kolkata Knight Riders eased to victory against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, match-winning batter Venkatesh Iyer lauded teammates Sunil Narine and Andre Russell for their worthy contributions in the victory.
At the post-match press conference, Iyer heaped praises on Narine's batting, 'That's what Sunil Narine is there for. He just goes out there and tries to capitalise on the power play. But in all fairness, in the first innings the ball was stopping quite a fair bit. It was not easy for the batters and we gauged that and assessed the pitch really well.'
Narine was adjudged Player of the Match for his notable 47 and 1/40 bowling figures.
Iyer also made a mention of Andre Russell, who took two crucial wickets of Cameron Green and Rajat Patidar to keep the game in control.
'It's just that, most of our bowlers get the job done most of the times. But today, when (inaudible) saw that the ball is not spinning much, it is time for (Andre Russell) to bowl his full quota. He delivered, and that is why he's one of the finest T20 players. Whenever the team requires anything of him, he is able to deliver that,' Iyer remarked.
