Mumbai Indians' horror run in IPL 2022 continued as they registered their 7th consecutive defeat of the season against a Dhoni-powered Chennai on Thursday evening.

While Mahela Jayawardene, Mumbai Indians head coach felt that the bowlers fought well, he also accepted that his team made mistakes and missed their opportunity to post a par score. 'I mean, we're making mistakes even today. You know, like we knew the wicket was going to be tough, those first six overs, you just have to get through that period and, you know, set a par score,' he said.

He further added that 'we had our opportunities, missed, so we just need to keep fighting. I think that's the message, (the) boys understand that they've been working hard, but they need to try and execute out there in the middle.'

It isn't just mistakes on the field which is costing Mumbai Indians matches, poor planning and execution during the IPL 2022 Mega Auctions is also troubling the most successful team in IPL. Without a doubt, the current squad isn't anywhere close to the best Mumbai has had in the past and the attempt to fill in the big cracks with uncooked youngsters will probably work out in the future.
