With just a day to go for the IPL 2022 mega auction, Wasim Jaffar stepped down as the batting coach of Punjab Kings.

Jaffar announced his decision on Twitter and wished head coach Anil Kumble and the Punjab team all the best for IPL 2022. The former India batter took up the role in 2019 and was with the franchise for two seasons in 2020 and 2021. Punjab Kings failed to reach the playoffs in both those seasons.

This is the second major departure from Kumble's coaching staff ahead of the new season. Earlier assistant coach Andy Flower had left the Punjab franchise and joined the Lucknow Super Giants, where he was appointed as the head coach.
