In a major blow to Kolkata Knight Riders' campaign in this year's IPL, the two-time champions will start their campaign without the services of two Australian players for the first five matches.

In a virtual press conference, KKR's mentor David Hussey gave an update on the availability of pacer Pat Cummins and batter Aaron Finch.

"I think Cummins and Finch will miss the first five games but they will be cricket fit and cricket ready," Hussey added.

Hussey flagged his concern over the unavailability of two Australians but also acknowledged the international duties of foreign cricketers.

Australia's tour of Pakistan will end on April 5 with a white-ball series while KKR's fifth match of the season is scheduled to take place on April 10.

Kolkata Knight Riders will start their IPL 2022 campaign against Chennai Super Kings on March 26.
