Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Faf du Plessis expressed surprise that his former side, Chennai Super Kings has changed the captain mid-way in the IPL 2022. du Plessis had been a part of CSK for a long time and had won two IPL titles with the team.

In a video chat with RCB, the former South Africa cricketer said, "I am surprised that it’s happened in-season. I am also surprised that it happened the way that it did at the start of the season. So the two surprises almost cancel each other out."
Dhoni took back the captaincy from Ravindra Jadeja after CSK's horrible form in the ongoing season.
CSK's former cricketer further said that when MS Dhoni is captain, he does get the best out of the players which will be a big challenge for RCB.
