MS Dhoni is known for making surprising moves and he did it again by relinquishing the captaincy of Chennai with only two days to go for the 15th edition of the Indian Premier League. However, Dhoni will be remembered as one the most successful captain in IPL history given he led CSK to four IPL titles, two champions league titles. Here are top five moments of Dhoni's captaincy

Champions League titles

After winning the first IPL title in the 2010 season, Dhoni-led CSK to first Champions League title in 2010. In the final of the Champions League, Chennai defeated South Africa's domestic side Warriors by 8 wickets after chasing the 129-run target in 19 Overs. Then, in the last edition of the Champions League, CSK defeated Kolkata Knight Riders in 2014 as they chased down a 181-run target by losing only two wickets.

2010 IPL champions

During the 2010 season of IPL, Chennai finished the league stages with seven wins and as many losses. They first defeated Deccan Chargers in the semifinal and then went on to beat Mumbai Indians in the final by 22 runs at DY Patil Stadium.

2011 IPL Champions

Dhoni continued his superb captaincy record in the next season as well as the number of IPL teams were increased to 10. CSK ended the league stage with nine wins in 14 matches and registered their place in the finals after beating Royal Challengers Bangalore in Qualifier 1. Dhoni's CSK then crushed RCB again in the final by 58 thus becoming the champions for the second time in a row.

2018 IPL Champions

Chennai failed to win the IPL title for the next four seasons of IPL after the success in 2011. But Dhoni led his team to the finals for 3 out of 4 occasions before the team was banned in 2016. With many critics writing off Chennai and calling them daddy's army, Dhoni showed his excellent captaincy skills by sticking to his players such as Shane Watson, who failed to impress in the league stages. However, Watson slammed a superb century in the final and defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by 8 wickets.

2021 IPL Champions

Everybody knew that the previous edition of the Indian Premier League would be last for 'daddy's army' given mega auction was scheduled before the 2022 season of IPL. But this time again Dhoni showed his astute captaincy skills in the league stages before making a final punch in the final, where they defeated Kolkata Knight Riders by 27 runs. Thus winning the IPL title for the 4th time.
