With Sri Lankan prodigy Matheesha Pathirana doubtful for the first few matches of Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League, the 5-time champions are looking at another option to fill the gaps.
Pathirana suffered a hamstring injury on March 6, during a T20I against Bangladesh and is reported to be out for at least 4-5 weeks.
But even as the youngster's absence deals a massive blow to Dhoni & Co., Chennai have some more tricks up their sleeve.
Recently acquired Mustafizur Rahman is their next-best choice, as per a Times of India report.
'Fizz will join the camp on March 20, a couple of days before our opener against RCB. He knows what it takes and we’ll see how he shapes up,' the CSK official said to TOI.
Rahman began his IPL career in 2016 with the Sunrisers Hyderabad where he impressed on debut, taking 17 wickets in 16 outings.
He also won the 'Emerging Player of the Tournament' accolade in the same year.
Since then, he has switched over to three different teams and has 47 wickets to his name in the 8-year-long IPL career.
Meanwhile, Pathirana, in just his second season last year, impressed with 19 scalps, with 18 of them coming in death overs.
