Ajinkya Rahane hit a scintillating 19-ball fifty, the fastest of the season as Chennai Super Kings cantered home with 7 wickets against the Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium. CSK now have two wins in three games while MI have lost both their matches so far.
Chasing a 158-run target, CSK lost Devon Conway for a duck. But Ajinkya Rahane sent Mumbai bowlers, especially Arshad Khan, for a leather hunt on the way to a 27-ball 61.
Even though Chennai lost a few wickets in the middle, Gaikwad kept his superb run going with an unbeaten 40. He, along with Ambati Rayudu, took the visitors home with 11 balls to spare.
Earlier, Batting first, MI managed a below-par 157 for 8 in 20 overs with Ravindra Jadeja being the pick of the bowlers.
Jadeja & Santner took 5 wickets between them as Mumbai stumbled from 38/0 to 76/5 at one stage. Mumbai's lower order did fight back but a score of 157 was never going to be enough.
