Krunal Pandya & Co. clinched a last-over thriller after an incredible comeback with the ball that saw them leapfrog their opponents on the night on the points table.
Their evening began with a whirlwind knock of 89 off 47 by Marcus 'Hulk' Stoinis which helped the hosts post a challenging 177 with a worthy contribution from skipper Pandya who scored 49 runs before retiring due to cramps.
Stoinis had walked in after Jason Behrendorff & Piyush Chawla had reduced the home side to 35/3. He stitched together an 82-run partnership with Krunal Pandya for the 4th wicket to resurrect Lucknow's innings.
Chasing 178, Mumbai Indians’ openers Ishan Kishan (59) and Rohit Sharma (37) built a 90-run partnership that put the visitors in the ascendancy.
However, what followed was a poor show from MI batters as the Lucknow bowlers claimed one wicket after another.
Ravi Bishnoi and Yash Thakur took two wickets each while Mohsin Khan scalped one. On his comeback trail, Mohsin was LSG’s hero after he successfully defended 11 runs in the final over, ensuring Lucknow keep their fate in their own hands ahead of their final league match.
