Pat Cummins may have captained Australia to World Cup glory on Sunday, but that didn't save him from an embarrassing moment post match.

Cummins was left standing awkwardly by himself with the World Cup trophy in hand as he waited for his teammates to join him on stage at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

It was the India prime minister himself who presented the trophy to Cummins, along with Australia deputy prime minister, Richard Marles.

They then proceeded to shake hands with the Australia squad off stage, as Cummins smiled awkwardly alone waiting for his teammates to join him.

Eventually they got there and the team celebrated joyously.
