After winning the toss, the Kiwi bowlers clamped down on the top order of the Bangla Tigers with ease. Struggling at 56-4, Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim saved the blushes with a 96-run stand. While Lockie Fergusson got 3 wickets, Trent Boult and Matt Henry picked 2 each as they restricted Bangladesh to 245.
In response, the New Zealanders chased down the target comfortably in 42.5 overs with Kane Williamson making a successful return from injury. The skipper announced his comeback with a dazzling 78(107). However, he had to retire hurt after suffering a blow to his left hand. For the Kiwis, Daryl Mitchell continued the attack as he collected 89* runs in 67 balls to help his side return to the top of the points table with another brilliant win at the World Cup.
