One more defeat and the defending champions England will be knocked out of the 2023 edition of the Cricket World Cup. The underconfident England suffered another humiliating loss at the tournament as Sri Lanka won in Bengaluru. 

It was the 3rd straight embarrassing loss for the Three Lions who faltered by 8 wickets after posting a paltry 156. After the win, Sri Lanka jumped in the points table to the 5th spot from 7th. Their jump pushed Pakistan to the 6th spot. The Kusal Mendis-led team has 4 points with 2 wins in 5 matches, while their net run rate is -0.205.

After this defeat, the England team suffered a huge loss. The English team are in the 9th position in the points table, and only the Netherlands are behind them in the 10th position.
