Fans were in for a rude shock ahead of the India vs Pakistan clash when broadcaster Star Sports revealed that there would be no telecast of the special pre-match ceremony.

In a post on social media platform X, Star Sports wrote, 'The ceremony at the Narendra Modi Stadium before match 12 of ICC Men's CWC 2023 (India vs Pakistan) has been planned for in-stadia fans. The ceremony is not for broadcast.'

Singers Shankar Mahadevan, Sunidhi Chauhan, Arijit Singh among others performed at the stadium before the game.

Fans expressed dismay and disappointment at the news.

One said that the organisers did not release tickets and then when fans planned their day according to the match, the BCCI disappointed them.

Another angry fan wrote, 'Seems Logic and BCCI have nothing to do with each other.'

While one stated that with the move to not telecast the pre-match ceremony fans were neglected and disrespected.

As per journalists covering the match and fans present at the stadium, the pre-match ceremony got underway around 12:30 PM.
