The Indian U19 women's cricket team have etched their name in the history books after winning the first-ever U19 Women's T20 World Cup on Sunday.

The Shafali Verma-led India U-19 squad managed to do what their seniors could not do by clearing the final hurdle in a global event as they beat England by a comfortable 7-wicket margin in the end.

Earlier, Seamer Titas Sadhu and spinner Archana Devi along with the other Indian bowlers restricted the English side to a mere 68 by picking up wickets at regular intervals.

Chasing which, India lost skipper Shafali Verma early but Gongadi Trisha and Soumya Tiwari guided India to a 7-wicket victory in the end.

The win has also given India their first ever trophy in a women's ICC tournament.
