It was records galore in Ahmedabad on Friday as the Gujarat Titans openers went hammer and tongs vs Chennai Super Kings.
Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan raked up 210 runs for the first wicket, the highest partnership of the 2024 season.
Their 210-run stand is now the joint-highest opening partnership in the league's history and also the joint-fourth highest partnership in IPL ever.
Chennai bowlers were left speechless as Gill and Sudharsan mercilessly took them on.
In just half the number of deliveries, Gill smashed his 4th IPL ton and also the 100th hundred of the league.
Following suit was Sai Sudharsan, who became the quickest Indian to make 1000 IPL runs in terms of innings (25). Only Shaun Marsh, Lendl Simmons and Matthew Hayden are ahead of the 22-year-old.
It was Sudharsan's maiden IPL century, claiming the ton in just 50 deliveries, at a strike-rate of over 200.
Sudharsan lost his wicket soon after but the power striking by the duo led GT to a total of 231/3 in a must-win encounter against Chennai.
